I love working with pregnant women and new mothers. I love honoring this rite of passage into motherhood and helping to preserve the memory of birth for new parents. I love to watch a relationship between a couple change to make room for this new job as parents. I see my role in birth as giving the woman and her partner the opportunity to experience their birth without the burden of having to be obstetrical experts.

Karen was the founder of Beautiful Birthing Doulas which has merged into Blooming Bellies. She was the first certified Birthing From Within Mentor in Canada and is the Facilitator of Level One Mentor training in Canada.

"Women recognize the importance of their pregnancy and birth experience. The mother's perception of herself during labour will influence her feelings afterward. This is one reason why I started teaching Birthing From Within prenatal classes - to help initiate expecting parents for their rite-of-passage into parenthood."
